Beneath a Steel Sky 2 is an adventure game by Revolution Software team. The whole is maintained in cyberpunk climates and combines a gloomy vision of the future with a lot of humour. The game consists mainly in exploring the location, conducting talks and solving puzzles.
Beyond a Steel Sky is a full-fledged continuation of the classic 1994 adventure of Beneath a Steel Sky. The title was created by the creators of the original, with Charles Cecil from Revolution Software studio and cartoonist Dave Gibbons at the forefront.
Plot
Beyond a Steel Sky continues the threads of the previous production. Again we play the role of Robert Foster, who, after the reproductions with the Beneath a Steel Sky must find itself in a world supervised by artificial intelligence. The ambition of the artists was to create a contemporary version of the Year 1984 in the form of an adventure game. Therefore, the authors tried to present this reality in an ambiguous way, showing both good and bad sides of a full surveillance.
Mechanics
Beyond a Steel Sky gameplay is far removed from that of Beneath a Steel Sky. Instead of the classic point-n-click adventure, we get an open world that changes with every action of the player. The advanced artificial intelligence of NPCs allows them to react to the hero's actions, allowing them to find unexpected solutions to the challenges posed by the game.
Technical aspects
Beyond a Steel Sky is moving away from static, two-dimensional boards known from old-school adventures to fully three-dimensional locations where we can look around freely. The graphics are kept in a comic style, developed by Dave Gibbons. The authors also took care to HDR technology and 4K resolution.
