Captain of Industry

Captain of Industry is an economic strategic sim game, in which we can test ourselves as the manager of an industrial colony. It was developed by an independent team MaFi Games and was created thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Game mechanics

In Captain of Industry we observe the action from the top-down view. We start the game with a small group of survivors, who arrive on a deserted island on board of a ship. Although our task is to transform this piece of land into a prosperous, fully self-sufficient industrial colony, which will shake the entire region, we start our activity humbly.

At the beginning we deal with land cultivation and food production, extraction of basic resources and production of the simplest goods and construction of simple structures. With time, we begin to develop, so we can deal with the acquisition of more resources (such as coal, iron, copper, gold and other valuable ores), the production of fertilizers, food, as well as more complex and increasingly expensive products (such as electronics, photovoltaic s, data centers or even rockets) or finally the development of infrastructure. In addition, research into new technologies plays an important role, thanks to which we gain access to new buildings and materials, among other things. On the other hand, when we run out of space, we can expand the island, enlarging the area occupied by it, and even try to build dams or level the terrain. In this way we gain land on which we can grow new species of plants or build new factories.
