Hitman is the sixth installment in the cult TPP action-game series, where the player could resort to a full-blown shoot-out, stealth infiltration, and anything in between in order to complete the mission - to locate and eliminate his living target in a more or less sandbox location. This chapter was created by the fathers of the series – the Danish developer company IO Interactive.

Story

The thing that stands out, in contrast to the previous chapters, is the lack of any number or a subtitle in the sixth installment's title. That's because the new Hitman for PC and XONE is not a direct sequel to any of the previous chapters. Although Agent 47 reprises his role as the protagonist, and the game is set after the events of Hitman: Absolution (the fifth part), the plot is unrelated to any of the previous stories.

The Phoenixes of Video Games, or How Flops Become Hits

"Video games as a service" is usually associated with unfair microtransactions, lacking content and watered-down story – but there's more to it. The term also implies an opportunity the devs have to mend the things that don't work properly.

The main pros of the game

  • Gameplay Variety and Freedom: Players appreciate the vast number of ways to approach missions and eliminate targets, highlighting the freedom to experiment with different tactics and strategies. The game encourages creativity in how players complete objectives, reminiscent of earlier titles like *Blood Money*.
  • Immersive Environments: The detailed and well-designed levels, such as Hokkaido, Sapienza, and Paris, are frequently praised for their atmosphere and the richness of their environments, which enhance the overall gameplay experience.
  • Strong Characterization: Agent 47 is viewed as a compelling protagonist, and the voice acting, particularly by the actors behind Agent 47 and Diana Burnwood, is well-received. The narrative elements interwoven with gameplay add depth to the experience.
  • Replayability: The game offers significant replay value due to its open-ended nature, allowing players to revisit missions and try different methods of assassinations, as well as complete various challenges and achievements.

The main cons of the game

  • Always Online Requirement: A significant number of players express frustration with the always-online requirement for saving progress, which can lead to disconnections and loss of progress during gameplay.
  • Voice Acting Issues: Some players find the voice work of certain male NPCs, particularly Yuri Lowenthal, repetitive and irritating, suggesting a lack of variety in voice acting for male characters.
  • Technical Issues: s report bugs, glitches, and performance problems, particularly after patches, which can detract from the gaming experience. Some players feel that the game feels "broken" at times due to these issues.
  • Difficulty Balance: Some players note that the difficulty can be inconsistent, with certain missions being easier or harder than expected, which can affect overall enjoyment.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to s

  • Offline Play: Many players wish for the option to play offline, as the always-online requirement is seen as unnecessary for a single-player experience.
  • Diverse Voice Acting: There is a desire for more varied voice actors for NPCs to enhance immersion and reduce the repetitiveness of hearing the same voices.
  • Improved AI Behavior: Some s express a need for better AI reactions and behaviors, particularly in combat scenarios, to make the game feel more realistic.
  • More Content Variety: Players have suggested that the game could benefit from more diverse missions or locations rather than relying heavily on the same maps for different challenges.

Summary

  • Overall, HITMAN? is regarded as a strong entry in the series, with a focus on player choice and creativity, but it faces criticism in areas such as technical stability and voice acting variety.
