The third installment of an FPP puzzle game series, in which we play as a spy. In I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine we're tasked with stopping the plans of the sinister Zoraxis corporation and solving numerous deadly escape rooms.
I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine is the third installment of a puzzle game series originating from 2016, in which we play as a spy. It was developed by the same studio as the previous installments, Schell Games, and was once again created with VR in mind.
Plot
The main protagonist of I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine is, once again, agent Phoenix. Though he hoped he'd be able to retire, he is once again dragged into action. The sinister Zoraxis has ed forces with one of the world's most intelligent (and dangerous) villains, their plans threatening the global order. Phoenix must thwart their plans before it's too late.
Mechanics
The gameplay of I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine is shown from the first-person perspective (FPP). The game is divided into missions, taking place in various locations all around the world. Each visited area is an "escape room"; we must solve puzzles and avoid traps to get out alive.
Phoenix is no amateur, having a number of useful gadgets and skills (such as telekinesis). Nevertheless, Zoraxis is thorough and traps are numerous, often getting us killed, just like our arch-enemy expected. The game has no checkpoints, so if we die, we must start over, hoping acquired knowledge and experience will be enough to succeed this time.
Throughout the game we acquire new cosmetic items in form of clothes (approved by the Agency).
Technical aspects
The visuals of I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine are once again cartoonish and colorful, just like in previous installments.
