Beginning the fight for the title of world champion, you receive 20,000 dollars in cash from your sponsors, which will allow you to take part only in Sprint Cars races. If you confirm the high class with your skills and manage to win all the races planned for the season, the sponsors will provide additional money and allow you to compete in a higher category (Modifieds, Stock Cars, Prototypes, Formula 1 and Indy Cars, respectively). The main goal of the player is of course to reach for the championship title in all disciplines, just as the title champion used to do in the past.
Mario Andretti's Racing Challenge was realized using three-dimensional graphics, in which both the tracks and the cars are composed of simple blocks with minimal details. The driving model is pretty good and despite the small effort of the programmers put into creating a faithful simulation, it reflects the specificity of driving cars. It is worth noting that in each category there are only a few of the twelve routes available, so that we will not have to struggle in the same arenas every time. Adding the option of repetitions from several cameras and the possibility of refueling and changing tyres in the box, should also be included in the advantages of the program.
Generally Mario Andretti's Racing Challenge is an interesting product, realized in a slightly different convention than the previous products of Distinctive Software. Of course, the game is closer to the arcade genre than simulators, but the Canadians have already accustomed us to it.
