Release Date: February 16, 2006
A real-time strategy developed by Petroglyph. The action of Empire At War takes place two years before the events seen in the fourth film, with some parts of the plot invoking the story from Revenge of the Sith. The game itself enables us to control both Rebel Forces and Galactic Empire in a quest to control the whole galaxy. The campaign consists of two phases: turn-based planning and real-time battles in three-dimensional environment.

Star Wars: Empire At War is a real-time strategy developed by Petroglyph, a dev team built from the veteran authors of cult-classic Command & Conquer series. Empire At War is a new attempt to transform the legendary universe into a well-versed real time strategy experience.
Empire At War begins two years before the events of the fourth movie (A New Hope), but certain plotlines invoke The Revenge of the Sith, the third entry in the series. The story is prelude to a fully-fledged conflict between Rebel Forces and the Galactic Empire, which means hundreds of characteristic battle units, such as AT-AT and AT-ST walkers, Acclamator drop ships, powerful Star Destroyers, Snowspeeders, or regular infantry units. Aside from the above, the authors introduced a number of previously unseen machines, such as TIE Crawlers, land versions of TIE Fighters equipped with tank tracks.
We are left with two types of battlefields: planetside warfare that include numerous recognizable locations, including icy wastes of Hoth, Dantooine, or Dagobah, as well as space battles taking place near planets and their orbits (Battle for Yavin 4). The campaign (either story-driven or a simple conquest) consists of two phases – a turn-based planning section, and real-time battles in detailed three-dimensional worlds. The authors have also introduced an extensive multiplayer mode that offers duels as well as team on team clashes. Interestingly enough, Petroglyph introduced a global ladder similar to the one seen in Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos that lists the best multiplayer players.

Strategy
First official expansion for Star Wars: Empire at War developed by Petroglyph. This add-on continues the story from the base game – Tyber Zahn takes advantage of the turmoil caused by the destruction of the first Death Star in an attempt to become the most influential villain in the whole galaxy, suring even Jabba the Hutt. In Star Wars: Empire at War – Forces of Corruption players get an entirely new faction at their disposal, which is at war with both the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The aforementioned faction, called the Underworld Organization, is able to spy and sabotage hostile factions e.g. by limiting their unit production. This expansion also features new options for land skirmish battles such as customizable and upgradeable base structures, guerilla warfare, and additional units for all factions (Rebel B-wings, Imperial TIE interceptors, Darth Vader's Executor Super Star Destroyer and more).
