flaws. A lot of fans were won over by Amelia Tyler, who captivated players as the narrator of Baldur's Gate 3. Heck, a thread has been set up on Reddit (not the first one and certainly not the last one) devoted to praising her, which at the time of publication of the article was approaching 10,000 positive reactions.
The English actress (born in 1981 as Emily Morris) has been known to gamers for years. We could hear her voice in Hades 2.
In the meantime, the Englishwoman also made herself known to RPG fans, gaining their sympathy by playing in both installments of the Divinity: Original Sin 2. It is possible that she owes her role in Baldur's Gate III specifically to her successful performance in the latter. Apparently, she also impressed Larian Studios.
Some players believe that this is Tyler's best performance to date.
- In their opinion, the actress perfectly captures the emotions accompanying the various situations players encounter while exploring the Forgotten Realms. That's a Dungeon Master (or Mistress) fans of tabletop RPGs would like to have in every session.
- It is appropriate to add that Tyler has experience in such a role. Not only through her appearances in games, but also from Tablestory - a group that regularly broadcasts RPG sessions on Roll20. It's also better to keep in mind that the actress apparently prefers evil characters (which allegedly is the result of childhood LARP sessions).
- Some Internet s fell in love with her voice as early as the second Divinity: Original Sin and in the Pathfinder series. Nevertheless, even players who preferred the narrator from the former (Brian Bowles, incidentally also returning in BG 3) are delighted with Tyler's performance in Larian's new game.
- By the way, although not exactly in connection with "Baldur" itself, players are impressed by her versatility. Some people familiar with Pathfinder: Wrath of The Righteous didn't even realize that they should know the narrator voice in Baldur's Gate III.
As a sidenote, just before the release of BG 3 Tyler shared footage from her recording sessions for the game. You can find them on TikTok and YouTube. They do not reveal anything about the plot, as they are lines said as a defensive reaction to the long hours spent in the studio. At least, as Tyler stated, she can save time and simply send these recordings to a therapist instead of making an appointment.
Recall that on September 6 Baldur's Gate 3 will also hit the PlayStation 5 console. An Xbox Series X/S version is in the plans, but no release date has been announced as of yet.
