Out of Memory error in Black Myth: Wukong explained
One of the biggest advantages of PC is their customizability. However, at the same time, it is also one of their biggest flaws. With almost an unimaginable number of configurations, it is nearly impossible to optimize a game for all those setups. Time and time again, when a new production drops, some kind of problems are virtually unavoidable. Black Myth: Wukong is no different when it comes to its “Out of Memory” error that some less fortunate of us see. What gives?
The shortest answer is U. However, it’s affecting very specific kinds of processors – Intel 13th and 14th gen. This issue has been addressed by the developers themselves in this Steam Community thread. They have given two pieces of advice, though both of those are rather technically advanced:
- Underclock the U,
- Skip shader compilation.
Going with the first option will most probably alleviate the problem permanently yet requires a bit of work and knowledge. Skipping shader compilation is easier operation, though the creators warn that Black Myth might still randomly crash in the game and the experience will not be as smooth without the shaders compiled.
The headaches for Radeon graphics card owners. Hopefully those two giants will take action to rectify the reported concerns.
