Bungie reveals two-year roap for Destiny 2
Today, Bungie gave fans a glimpse at what to expect for the next two years of Destiny 2, including the next two expansions: The Edge of Fate and Renegades.

Even as Bungie prepares for Destiny 2. In a reveal event today, Bungie showcased the Fate Saga, the next slew of updates for the live service shooter. The saga will cover the next four major updates planned through 2026, with the first expansion launching on July 15th of this year: The Edge of Fate.
Destiny 2 reveals a two-year roap, with two major updates planned every year
The full livestream took place earlier today on Destiny 2’s YouTube channel for about an hour. The stream featured several gameplay trailers and cinematics to give fans a look at the expansions. This is a slight shift from how Destiny 2 updates have worked in the past. Rather than receiving one annual expansion, players can expect two smaller expansions per year. The Edge of Fate will launch in July, with Renegades planned for December 2nd, 2025. This particular update has also caught a lot of attention for seeming to be more than just a casual reference to Star Wars.
This year, the two major chapters of updates will also feature further updates within those timeframes. Ash & Iron will launch on September 9th, part way through the Edge of Fate chapter. Then next March, during the Renegades expansion, an update titled Shadow & Order will launch. Looking ahead to 2026, fans of Destiny can expect the summer expansion Shattered Cycle and the Winter expansion The Alchemist.
Since this is a change for how frequent and how large updates will be for Destiny 2, it will be interesting to see how the community responds. Last year’s The Final Shape was largely well received, but Destiny 2 has been out since 2017, making this September its eighth anniversary. For any game to remain relevant and popular that long is impressive, but it usually requires some updates and innovation.
This two-year roap for Destiny 2 seems to show that fans will have something to look forward to nearly every three months from now until Spring 2027, if all goes according to plan. The game’s ongoing success will rely on the content included in these updates and if fans are willing to return again and again to take part in each new update. Maybe it will just come down to if they nail how fun lightsabers are.
