Cyberpunk 2077 sequel may have multiplayer, which was dropped in the original
CD Projekt is apparently thinking of adding a multiplayer mode to Project Orion, after the Polish developer had to abandon multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077, may include a feature that wasn't included in the original: a multiplayer mode.
Even though CD Projekt Group hasn't revealed much about their projects, the fans of the developer are definitely not complaining about the lack of news. Some of these insights come from the devs' statements (and from the first The Witcher 4 trailer), but many were also disclosed through later job postings. Thanks to them, in February, the first-person perspective view and the creator's ambitious plans related to NPCs in the sequel to Cyberpunk were confirmed.
At the same time, information also appeared that originally escaped the media. Perhaps this is because CD Projekt RED studio quickly found a candidate for this position, and the offer hasn't been visible on the company's official website for a long time (via GameRant). The mention of it remained only on the studio's page on LinkedIn.
It's about the job of a senior gameplay programmer, who will be responsible for "creating and maintaining robust and flexible systems" that will work well in both single-player and multiplayer games. The offer also underlined the need to have "rich experience with multiplayer modes."
The creators of Cyberpunk 2077 had plans for a multiplayer mode, but it didn't make it into the game at launch. This particular feature was completely abandoned, and in the end, players had to settle for fan-made alternatives.
It should also be noted that not all Cyberpunk 2077 players want to play with other people. According to these fans, deg multiplayer systems would be detrimental to the project, as it would distract developers and resources from the single-player campaign. Furthermore, the multiplayer itself would likely be merely a stripped-down version of the single-player gameplay or just another variation on the theme of Call of Duty.
Of course, there are also players who wouldn't mind playing online. Or at least would want to try out the co-op mode. Nevertheless, for now, we don't have solid grounds to speculate about what CD Projekt is planning in the context of multiplayer. Project Orion is only just entering the pre-production phase and won't be released too soon (we will have a chance to play The Witcher 4 first).
