Diablo 2: Curse of Tristram Gets Final Update.
Highlights:
  1. The Curse of Tristram mod for Diablo II has received its final beta update;
  2. Devs decided to discontinue the project due to growing problems with the StarCraft 2 engine and rumors about the imminent announcement of Diablo II: Resurrected;
  3. Egod123 and the rest of the modders responsible for Curse of Tristram want to start their careers as independent game developers.

The official remaster (or remake) of the mod known as Curse of Tristram, available in Arcade on Battle.net. Today, the last update for the beta version of this mod was released, after which its creator - Egod123 - will cease further work on Curse of Tristram. In the future players can expect mainly small patches to fix bugs, although "bigger" additions are not excluded.

Sudden discontinuation of work on the acclaimed mod may be surprising, but Egod123 gives two important reasons. The first is the increasing number of problems with the engine powering Curse of Tristram, borrowed from Diablo IV, many are also expecting confirmation of rumors about a remake of the second installment.

Curse of Tristram offers a beautified and more elaborate version of the first act of Diablo II. To play, we need to have the base (and free) version of StarCraft II. The mod enables us to play solo or in group of up to four players. Apart from carrying over content from the game, the mod adds a lot of new features, not new items, but also changed interface and gameplay mechanics. We can also choose from three difficulty levels: normal, nightmarish and hellish.

As for Egod123 and the rest of the creators of Curse of Tristram, the team wants to start a career as independent game developers. Their next project will be powered by Unreal Engine.
