If you are starting your journey in Fallout 76 and you are unsure if you should choose Battle Ready of Fresh Dweller loadout, we're here to help.

Lucy. While starting the adventure, the very first thing players are supposed to choose is whether they are “Fresh” or “Battle Ready” Dwellers. If you are unsure what to choose or what consequences this choice will have, we have you covered.
Fresh and Battle Ready in Fallout 76 explained
Starting a journey in a new game and the first things you see are seemingly important decisions to take. Fallout 76 makes you to choose whether you are “Fresh” or “Battle Ready” Dweller. Even though you have just jumped into the game and selecting the first option seems like an obvious choice, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best one. Let’s analyse them.
Fresh Dweller
The Fresh Dweller selection leaves you with level 2 and only one perk card that you can choose from:
- Slugger,
- Inspirational,
- Action Dweller,
- Gunslinger,
- First Aid.
However, it is important to note that no matter what option you pick, you will always start with the same loadout. It will give you level 1 leather armour set and when it comes to weapons – 10mm Pistol, a Combat Knife and 5 Fragmentation Grenades.
This option, however, lets you experience the direness of the world to the fullest and craft your own build from the scratch. It’s best to select it if you are up for more challenge and if you are acquainted with such games or Fallout franchise in general.
Battle Ready Dweller
The choice of Battle Ready Dweller gives you a lot more than the Fresh one. This option lets you decide on a whole loadout. The possibilities are as follows:
- Commando,
- Slugger,
- Gunslinger,
- Shotgunner,
- Specialist.
Selecting one of those puts you at level 20 and gives you a weapon related to the loadout that you have chosen. Furthermore, you get a lot more perk cards than level 20 would normally allow you to have. Moreover, you will have some additional perks to choose from. When it comes to armour, the leather set that you will have equipped will already be at level 20, too.
Many would guide to help you out in the wilderness. Good luck Vault Dweller!
