Fans Decode Inaudible Conversation Between Varrick and Solas in Dragon Age Veilguard. Now It's Clear What It Was About
Have you wondered what the „inaudible argument” at the beginning of the game means? A fan has an answer for us.

WARNING: THE TEXT CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD
A week has ed since the official release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Some players are still discovering the new entry in the series, some are already creating new characters, and others are hunting for Easter eggs and hidden tidbits from the devs (believing that one of them is a "teaser" of the next installment). Despite appearances, the quarrel between Varric and Solas was a mystery for some time. However, we didn't have to wait too long for a resolution in this case.
What is the unheard argument about?
The plot of The Veilguard starts with a bang, showing how Varric, Rook, and the assembled party try to stop Solas from (as they thought at the time) tearing the Veil. As players fight with demons, they witness a dispute between two former comrades, the details of which we unfortunately never hear – most of the dialogue is described as an "inaudible quarrel."
Fortunately, there is nothing that dedicated fans wouldn't fix. One Reddit managed to clean up the conversation of unnecessary sounds, so we can at least hear a fragment of it.
Varric: So how is this time gonna work out for the better? Can you tell me that?
Solas: I understand your hesitance but what I do now must be done. Despite it being past your comprehension.
Varric: I'm not saying you're evil, but if you truly believed what you were doing. You'd be able to give me a straight answer.
Solas: You would rather cast aspersions than it that this is mine to solve!
Varric: C'mon Chuckles, who are you trying to convince here? Me or yourself?
It appears that the muted conversation isn't significantly different from what we know from actual cutscenes during quests. Commentators see this as another chance to harmlessly mock Solas, who "chose to take the risk of releasing two defiled gods rather than discuss feelings".
Still others believe that the elf's behavior matches his memories, which we can learn about during the quest "Regrets of the Dread Wolf." Solas has fallen victim to the influence of others too often in the past to allow someone to change his decision again.
