Far Cry 7 Will Use New Engine and Non-linear Time-pressed Story (Leak)
Far Cry 7, according to information from Tom Henderson, will be powered by a new engine, and will present the story in an unconventional way. The journalist also provided a release date for the game.
Well-respected gaming journalist Tom Henderson from development and is functioning under the codename Project Blackbird.
According to Henderson's sources, the developers have tentatively set the game's release date for the fall of 2025. Ubisoft Montreal is to be primarily responsible for the game.
Far Cry 7 (working title) will make use of a supposedly different graphics engine - Snowdrop, known, for example, from The Division series. Ubisoft would thus abandon Dunia, used since the second installment of the series, which was a modified version of CryEngine technology.
Henderson reveals the plot twist
Henderson, citing his informants, also revealed some details about the game's plot. According to his reports, Far Cry will bet on a non-linear story, in which players will face the so-called Sons of Truth.
- The story will focus on rescuing of the protagonist's family. Players will decide for themselves in what order they will do it.
- To complete the game it will not be required to save everyone from death, unless we are a completionist.
- The title will reportedly impose a time limit on the player. He or she will have to achieve the set goals within 24 actual hours (i.e., 72 hours in the game).
- The countdown is to stop when entering hideouts and other safe places.
- A key mechanic is to be an interrogation system, from which we will learn where our family are being held. Interestingly, captive opponents will be able to lie, remain silent or try to escape.
Of course, as Henderson himself warns, the above information should be approached with caution. After all, Ubisoft Montreal's game is still at a fairly early stage of development, and the campaign concept itself may undergo multiple (and radical) changes.
