Popular modder will help fix Sid Meier's Civilization 7 as a new employee of Firaxis Games studio.

It's no secret that the release of Civilization 7 was mediocre, to put it mildly. Despite high expectations, more people on Steam are currently playing Civilization 6, and the 50% positive reviews combined with a high price don't encourage buyers to give the seventh installment a chance. Nevertheless, it's still a notable improvement compared to the first reviews.

The developer quickly set about fixing the game, resulting in minor patches and the early release of the next DLC). However, as players point out, it says a lot that even after a month, practically every list of changes includes significant improvements to the interface—the most criticized element of Civ 7.

The fact of how much the UI bothers the fans of the series is also evidenced by the positive reaction to Firaxis hiring Sukrit "Sukritact" Tanticharoenkiat / Tana - a modder who developed a warmly received mod with improvements to the Civ 7 interface (via Discord / BlueSky). It's enough to say that the post about this topic on the series forum on Reddit is the most "upvoted" thread of the past week, with extreme enthusiasm prevailing in the comments.

"Let him cook"

Sukritact's achievements are not just UI improvements for the seventh Civ. The modder began his adventure with modding from Civilization 5, and later created similar modifications and more ambitious projects in the sixth installment. So it's no wonder that fans are happy about his employment as a technical artist.

Some players are concerned about how this will affect the modding scene, since—as Tan himself itted earliermodders have it easier because they "don't have to work as part of the structure," unlike official devs. They have to wait for approval and testing of their changes, while the modders can share their creation whenever they want. Not to mention, players are more lenient towards mistakes in fan modifications than those in the official updates.

However, most players are happy with Tan's hiring, seeing it as a huge achievement for the modder and a promise for improving the interface of Civilization VII and the whole game in the months.

A popular comment suggests that Firaxis Games should leave Sukritact alone in a room and "let him cook," then publish his work "without checking or changes." This is supposed to create the "best Civilization ever," which - most importantly - will hit not only PCs (like mods), but also consoles.
