Gears of War: Reloaded releases this summer on PlayStation 5
Gears of War: Reloaded, a new remastered version of the original, will be the first in the long-running Xbox exclusive series to arrive on the PlayStation 5.
Today, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, they will receive a free upgrade. The new remaster will be available on Xbox Game Ultimate and PC Game on day one.

So far, we have yet to see a trailer or any video of Gears of War: Reloaded, instead only screenshots were shared in the Gears of War: E-Day, which is expected to be released sometime next year, and should serve as a prequel to the story in Reloaded. Perhaps this is the first hint that E-Day could also release on the PlayStation platform?
From Xbox Wire, “Gears of War: Reloaded is built for shared play – whether you’re teaming up in split-screen or jumping online. The Campaign s two-player co-op, and Versus Multiplayer allows up to 8 players. With cross-play across all platforms, you and your friends can squad up no matter where you play – no Microsoft required.” So not only does this franchise finally make the jump to PlayStation, but it will also feature crossplay with this rival platform. While a Microsoft is not required, it does unlock “full cross-platform functionality,” including cross-progression.
Xbox Game Studios has consistently become the top third-party publisher, Doom: The Dark Ages. Even if certain Xbox fans are not happy with the direction of Xbox exclusives and hardware, it has already started proving to be successful for the console maker.
Personally, I believe this is a signal that Gears of War: E-Day is going to arrive on PlayStation 5. It might not be day one, but it will happen eventually. Not only is the strategy proving successful for Xbox, but why else would they release the introduction to the series if not to prepare PlayStation fans for what’s coming next? Some PlayStation s might never have experienced the game before, so this is the perfect introduction.
Gears of War: Reloaded launches on August 26th, 2025, on Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and the Xbox Store, and PlayStation 5. It will also be available on day one on Xbox Game Ultimate and PC Game .
