God of War: Ragnarok Release Date Leaked in PlayStation Database
It is possible that we learned the approximate release date of God of War: Ragnarok. A specific date appeared in the PlayStation database, which may indicate when Santa Monica's new game will debut on PlayStation 5 and 4.

January 14, 2022 - on this day 2018's God of War: Ragnarok received a specific release date - September 30th.

But before you reach for your calendars and start planning a day off, when the previous installments in the series were released. The aforementioned GoW4 was released on PS4 on April 20th; Spirit of Sparta - developed by Ready at Dawn, same as Chains of Olympus - came out in the fall, specifically on November 2, 2010.
I think you can see where I'm going with this. Sony seems to avoid releasing God of War games so late in the year. Which is not to say that we're not in for a second exception. 9th-gen consoles do need exclusives after all - especially PlayStation 5, which, unlike Xbox Series X|S, can not attract players with a subscription like Game .
So should we pay attention to September 30? Not necessarily. It seems that at best we should treat it as a placeholder, that is an approximate release date. Perhaps it's not an accident that it coincides with the last day of the third quarter of 2022 - this could mean that the release of back surgery on Christopher Judge, the "voice" of Kratos, have thwarted any plans to keep up the release tradition.

Fans of the series who have spoken out on Twitter - sample comments can be found above - are skeptical of this information. Most would like it to be true, of course, but many share the concerns outlined in this post. There are also suggestions that even if we are dealing with an unconfirmed fact, the creative process may still drag on, pushing the title's debut to spring - of 2023. Well, it remains to be seen - if this release date is anything to go by, Sony will surely make an official announcement soon.
