Gran Turismo 7 Will Require Internet Connection Due to Cheaters
The game's lead designer explains why Gran Turismo 7 will require a constant internet connection.

During the interview with the game's lead designer, a question was asked regarding this issue. Kazunori Yamauchi answered that only the Arcade mode will not require an internet connection. The Campaign, Vehicle Editor, GT Cafe and other features require it and this is to protect the game from cheaters. Saved game states will not be stored locally to prevent modification. This is especially important in light of the announcement of GT Cafe - collecting cars and learning about their history will be at the heart of the new series.

It doesn't appear that the developers of Gran Turismo 7 have changed their minds about requiring players to be online. We can only observe the situation and hope that the game's servers do not fail.
The release of GT7 is scheduled for release on March 4, 2022. The game will be released exclusively on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
