How to start a Trade Route in Civilization 7 (Civ 7)

Trade in Civilization 7 has a big benefit – rare resources which are not available in your country and can strengthen it. The other side of the deal is not at a loss either, it gets money – so, win-win situation. However, some players might wonder how to start a Trade Route, as it is not so obvious.

First of all, you have to research proper Civics. It is different in each age. Start with Code of Laws. They are easier to find in later ages. However, it is not all. The trickiest part awaits you. How do you send a Merchant?

It so unintuitive that some people may believe that it is a bug… but Merchants work “properly”… at least as far as mechanics are concerned. So, once you select a Merchant you have a list of possible Trade Routes. Now, you have to send them to the city you want to trade with. Once the agent is there, a new option will appear at the bottom of the character card. However, only if your Merchant have all movement points. Simple as that. Good luck.
