„I'd Rather Wake Up in Jail.” Robert Downey Jr. Bitterly Regrets His Role in ” the worst action movie of all time"
Robert Downey Jr. has bad memories of one of the films he took part in. Not only does he consider it bad, but the filming of it was not a positive experience for him.
Robert Downey Jr. since his career came to life thanks to Iron Man may be picky about his roles, but it didn't always look that way. Just as his life hasn't always worked out as well as it does now that he has his professional life and his private life sorted out.
The artist was jailed for 15 months in 1999 after receiving a sentence for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded .357 Magnum pistol. And while it would seem that his stay in prison would be the worst experience of his life, it turns out that there was something even worse, and that was a role in a movie he starred in before he went behind bars. We're talking about 1998's U.S. Marshals, where he starred alongside such actors as Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes.
Downey Jr. talked about how he hates the experience on the set of this production in book Robert Downey Jr: The Fall and Rise of the Comeback Kid by Ben Falk.
I'd rather wake up in jail for a TB test than have to wake up another morning knowing I'm going to the set of U.S. Marshals.
Possibly the worst action movie of all time, and that's just not good for the maintenance of a good spiritual condition. ou’ve had a traumatic year, you’ve been practically suicidal — what do you think would be really healing for you? I think that if you talk to a spirit guide, they would say, ‘That’ll kill you.’ … I thought maybe there was something I was missing, and what I really needed to do was to be in one of those films that I love taking my kid to. It would end up being really depressing.
So it wasn't the best time for Robert Downey Jr. to take on such a project, which makes him the experience badly now. It's also worth noting that the actor doesn't even this period very well, as he recounted during an interview with AV Club.
