Since Marvel Rivals appears to strike a unique art style that is far from being photorealistic, it may be possible to port it to our omnidevices running Android or iOS. We have already seen major franchises, like Call of Duty for example, being ported to those mobile platforms, which shows that they are more than capable to handle them. Will we see our favorite heroes in action there, then?
Currently, there are no such plans. As we can learn from the interview with game director Thaddeus Sasser (via Pocket Tactics) “there are no discussions” about handheld version due to technical restrictions. While it might sound gloomy, it seems that it’s not completely out of the picture in the case of phones. Mobile market is very big, especially in the eastern parts of the world. We can speculate that if the game does well on its main devices, it might eventually make its way to Android and iOS. However, we should not expect it on less powerful devices.
Another argument in favor of Marvel Rivals being ported is connected to the previously mentioned fact about popularity of mobile platforms on eastern markets. The production is developed by NetEase, which is Chinese developer specializing in smartphone gaming. The company was responsible for creating titles such as Marvel Super War, which was developed strictly for iOS and Android, back in 2020.
