IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. New World devs announced that over 1,000 cheaters were banned yesterday;
  2. The players have mixed feelings; on the one hand, such numbers are encouraging, on the other, the effectiveness of these actions is questionable.

Despite a significant economic crisis. The creators, however, must be given credit for not being idle and fighting for the best possible condition of their game. One of the evidence of the developer's efforts is the announcement of banning over a thousand cheaters in just one day. A post about cheater punishment was published on the official forum of New World.

And while removing 1000 cheaters from the game may seem like a success, the community focused around New World is not so positive about the joyous announcement. Comments raise issues such as the fact that it is not known for how long these people were banned and for what offenses. Players speculate that many of the banned s are just bots, used for example for fishing.

"Funny enough, the fishing bot on my server in windward is still going at it, been at it since day one. probably been reported thousands of times and yet he's still going," writes Reddit Alarmed-Classroom329

"Go to a starter zone on your server to see how effective this ban wave actually was," adds Reddit Couchfishing

Nonetheless, it's encouraging to see that the developers are trying to curb rogue activity on their servers. Will their work keep the shrinking community of players happy? Time will tell.
