One of the best survival games on Steam gets near-perfect ratings. Now devs want to deal with one of Valheim's last weaknesses
Two major updates are heading to Valheim. The larger one, which will introduce a new biome to the game, will be preceded by a patch that improves the combat system.

The creators of the popular and highly-rated survival game Valheim from Iron Gate studio have shared some new updates about the game's future. While work on the long-awaited final biome - Deep North - is ongoing, the devs announce that we will first receive a smaller, but important update focused on the combat system (via Mein-MMO).
Deep North is the last region that is to be fully developed according to the original early access plan of Valheim. Iron Gate assures that work is progressing, but the studio wants to keep most of the surprises for the players until the release date this time. In the case of almost everything was already known long before its release.
Despite this, the creators lifted the veil of secrecy, presenting a new adversary in a short teaser. This is an aggressively looking, furry creature. These creatures can often be encountered holding lanterns in their hands, which they use to light their way in the frosty regions of the Deep North.
The update of the combat system will precede the launch of the new biome
Before we set off to conquer the frosty lands, Valheim will receive the update mentioned at the beginning of this news, focused on combat, aiming to "smooth out" and improve this system. The developers directly call the current combat system one of the last major weaknesses of the game, which they want to fix before the release of the final biome.
They also confirmed that one of the priorities is to fix and improve combat on slopes and uneven terrain. The studio wants the clashes in such conditions to be "more solid." The patch will also introduce at least one new armor set.
Unfortunately, no approximate release date for the Deep North update has been given yet. It's only known that the patch with combat fixes will be released first.
Valheim is a popular survival game set in the world of Vikings, which has been enjoying great interest for over 4 years, even though it is still in Early Access. The fact that the game has a 94% positive review rate on Steam and reached a peak of 25,000 players in a day, via SteamDB, is the best confirmation of its success.
In the game, we play as fallen warriors who end up in the tenth world of Yggdrasil, where we must prove our worth by gathering resources, creating tools, building settlements, and defeating mythical beasts in a procedurally generated world.
