„Overwatch is dead and gone.” Famous streamer has no doubt: Marvel Rivals has killed the competition
Marvel Rivals is the new king of hero shooters, and a popular streamer is convinced that its success will end Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2, which according to a popular streamer is already "dead".
Richard Tyler "Ninja" Blevins is by no means the first person to see in the superhero game by NetEase not only a conqueror but even a killer of Overwatch. The title, once criticized as a Chinese knockoff of Blizzard's game, swiftly gained the favor of many players.
Comparing MR and OW 2 statistics on Steam isn't very meaningful (since the latter has a significant community on Battle.net), but it clearly shows that Marvel Rivals is a major contender in the hero shooter market.
This success was quickly compared to the problems of the second Overwatch, which since the controversial release of the sequel and its crushing reception on Steam, struggled to gain the sympathy of players. With what effect, show the "mostly negative" Diablo 4, also often criticized, performs much better).
The new king of hero shooters
As you can see, despite occasional successes, Overwatch is definitely no longer the king of hero shooters. During a recent stream, Ninja bluntly stated that "Overwatch is dead and gone," while the creators of Marvel Rivals announced another map and certainly don't have to worry about the "backstory" for further game development (via TikTok / Insider Gaming).
Overwatch is dead and gone.
It’s so unfortunate. Here’s the thing — first off, they already have a new map coming, which is incredible. Second, they have so much lore and so many heroes and villains and anti-heroes that they have enough for updates for the next ten years.
Is such a statement justified, or is it an exaggeration? Despite the problems, Overwatch 2 is by no means terrible. The "second installment" remains in the top hundred most-played titles on Steam, despite many people playing via Battle.net. The game is far behind Marvel Rivals, but it still significantly outperforms the rest of the hero shooters (for example, Paladins).
Time will tell if Marvel Rivals will retain players and truly end Overwatch - or, as some fans of the brand hope, inspire Blizzard to more actively and effectively improve the game.
