PS5 games helped Microsoft end the quarter in the „green.” PC Game sees 45% year-over-year growth
Microsoft's gaming division reported solid revenue growth in the first quarter of this year. This was thanks in part to the growing popularity of Game on PC. The corporation is also doing well on the PS5.

Recently, we have been witnessing a thorough change in Microsoft's gaming department strategy. The company has abandoned exclusive titles and its games are more often released on competition's consoles as well. The corporation's new financial report shows that this approach is already starting to bring tangible benefits.
- In the first quarter of this year, the revenue of Microsoft's gaming division increased by 5% compared to the first three months of 2024.
- What's important is that this success was mainly due to significantly better results in the gaming department and related services, which saw an increase of 8%. However, revenues from the sale of consoles and accessories decreased by 6%.
- Game on PC recorded a revenue increase of 45% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
- The games of the giant from Redmond are warmly received on Sony consoles. In the first quarter, Microsoft was the largest publisher in the PlayStation Store in of preorders and pre-installations. This is of course thanks to Forza Horizon 5, which launched on PS5 in April, but their pre-sale started much earlier.
- According to recent reports, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sold faster on the PS5 in its first week than it did on the XSX and PC during its debut last year. Of course, it's partly because Game isn't available on PlayStation 5, but it's still a good example of PS5 owners enjoying Microsoft's good games.
Cloud gaming is also developing fast. From January 1 to March 31, 2025, players spent over 150 million hours playing on xCloud. This is the first quarter in history when it was possible to exceed this threshold.
