Realm of Thrones 6.0 might be the best Bannerlord mod out there - and now it takes us even beyond the Wall
In the latest version of Realm of Thrones, we get to choose whether to the Night’s Watch or become a White Walker. This Bannerlord mod just keeps getting better.

There are some amazing total conversion mods for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord – The Old Realms, the epic Warhammer-themed overhaul, or the Shokuho, which throws us into Japan’s Sengoku era. But let’s be real, a lot of people (myself included) would probably agree the crown jewel is Realm of Thrones. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like, Game of Thrones' Westeros (and even parts of Essos) brought straight into the game. This mod has been in development since 2021, and the latest version 6.0 is an absolute gem.
Why Realm of Thrones is the ultimate Bannerlord mod right now
The Realm of Thrones mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, made by Carolina Warlord and a dedicated team, swaps out the Calradia map for Westeros and Essos, so we can dive right into the world of Game of Thrones. We get to interact with iconic houses like the Starks, Lannisters, and Targaryens, with unique units and events straight from the GoT lore.
The map includes famous spots like the Wall, Winterfell, and Dragonstone. Plus, there are hundreds of characters we’ll recognize like (Jon Snow, or Tyrion Lannister), and we can even be part of legendary moments like the lovely Red Wedding. And of course, there’s also a ton of GoT inspired armor and weapons to gear up with.
The big update, version 6.0 (launched in March 2025), adds the threat of the Night King and his undead army. The White Walkers slowly take over lands north of the Wall and eventually push south. We can even the undead as a wight or lead them as a White Walker ourselves.
Besides the Long Night, the update brings in events like the Rivens jumping into the War of Five Kings, Richard Karstark’s execution, Jorah Mormont’s mutiny, and Aegon’s Invasion. They’ve also added the official Game of Thrones soundtrack, gave the UI a fresh new look, and included custom artwork for town and castle backgrounds.
I know that some of us might be hyped for the War Sails DLC, coming pretty soon, but the Bannerlord mod community is already hooking us up with tons of things to get excited about.
