RTX 5090 is a legend that no one has seen with their own eyes, and gamers sell GPU photos to bots
The RTX 50 launch went as everyone expected. Stores ran out of graphics cards, and gamers hunted for bots trying to bail everything out.

Unofficial reports and information from Nvidia regarding the availability of the RTX 5090 and 5080 for the launch on January 30 have turned out to be completely accurate. Even before the scheduled date, we found out that stores were doing everything they could to give as many players as possible a chance to get a GPU, and in some places, even a lottery was organized. However, getting the most powerful Nvidia card was almost impossible.
Launch of non-existent graphics cards
Buying RTX 50s has become an almost impossible mission. On social media, players resorted to making memes, and criticism also came from tech YouTubers, like Gamers Nexus, who failed to get the RTX 5090 for review.
Based on opinions, this is the worst graphics card launch we've seen, and if the leaker Moore’s Law is Dead is correct, Nvidia is holding back its cards until AMD's RX-9000s debut, planning to then inundate stores with their product, overshadowing the competition. This would mean that you have to wait until around March to buy a new GPU because that's when the Radeons are supposed to appear on sale.
However, players don't give up and try to fight with scalper bots, at least on eBay. Well, when searching for offers under the keyword "RTX 5090," the first results will be fake offers. In their description, the sellers state that this auction is meant only for bots and advise people not to take part, as at a seemingly bargain price, we would only purchase a photograph of the RTX 5090.
We really don't know what's behind such low availability of graphics cards. Even Nvidia employees had minimal chances of purchasing a card in the company's internal store when there were a lot of RTX 4090s available on day one. Nvidia should speak up on this matter, but whether they will issue any statement - apart from informing that they are cooperating with partners - is hard to say.
