After the latest updates, it's clear that Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone can't part with his first creation, even though he's working on another game. There is also a chance that the development of Stardew Valley won't end with the next major update, but the dev doesn't want to work on one project forever.

In an interview for PC Gamer (via Games Radar), Barone stated that although he has no specific plans for SV, he cannot say he has closed this chapter of his life. The dev usually avoids making any "major assumptions" and instead prefers to "wait and see what the future holds."

The developer also itted that he has many ideas for the development of Stardew Valley, which he hasn't yet implemented. The dev still believes he could "improve every aspect of the game" and continue working on it forever, despite it being over 12 years since its release.

Barone become part of the narrative popular among developers in recent months, which suggests that video game development is never truly finished. Instead, creators simply reach a point where they decide that their title is already "good" and stop working on it. ConcernedApe was supposed to finish developing SV a long time ago, after releasing a "small" update for modders. In the end, version 1.6 proved to be a big update Stardew Valley received (on PC; a version for consoles and mobile devices is still in development).

However, following the next hotfix for version 1.6 (which will also prepare the update for release on other platforms), Barone intends to take a brief vacation before returning to work on his next project: Haunted Chocolatier.

Furthermore, we also know that SV has the potential to receive an additional big update.
