Studio Led by Mass Effect Trilogy Director Fails to Stand The Test of Time. Humanoid Origin Worked on Story-Driven Sci-Fi Game
The studio founded by the former CEO of BioWare has been closed. The reason was a lack of funding.

In 2021, former CEO of BioWare and director of the original announced that it was working on a AAA game set in a science fiction universe. Unfortunately, we just found out that they won't be able to finish it.
The studio published a LinkedIn post announcing the shutdown of Humanoid Origin. The decision is explained as being a result of insufficient funds to enable further functioning.

We’re heartbroken that we will not be able to bring our new science-fiction universe to completion. Our main concern at this time however is for our team, and we are committed to ing them in their transition to new employment.
In our time together, the team achieved incredible progress, and demonstrated that it's possible to do amazing work while fostering a culture of fun and creativity. We thank them for their talent, courage, and friendship.
The shutdown can be included in the extensive list of studios that ended operations or laid off many employees during 2023 and 2024. Witcher, this situation results from the overproduction of video games and is a consequence of the pandemic.
