The Escapists is getting a sequel, featuring multiplayer and new combat system
Newly announced, The Escapists 2 is going to feature expanded mechanics as well as multiplayer modes. The game is coming for PC and consoles next year.
Team 17 have announced The Escapists 2, a sequel to last year’s prison break simulator from Mouldy Toof Studios. For their next game the team want to expand the well-proven mechanics in order to offer a fuller experience. The reveal trailer shows off some of the key new features, including multiplayer and overhauled combat system. It also says that The Escapists 2 is slated for release in 2017 and is going to be available on PC (Steam), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Here is the aforementioned trailer:
Probably the biggest addition in The Escapists 2 will be online and local (split-screen) drop-in, drop-out multiplayer, offering both co-op nad versus modes. On the other hand, the new combat system is going to be based on light and heavy attacks and will allow blocking. The developers also promise deeper character customization, new items to craft, more side activities, and more ways to escape, such as making a bed sheet rope and pulling yourself down form a cell window. As for the visuals, similarly to the previous installment, The Escapists 2 will be a retro pixel art game.
