Most hated installment of cult survival horror series may be coming to new platforms. Resident Evil 6 is likely to get something less than a remaster
Capcom may soon announce a Resident Evil 6 version for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The ESRB has assigned this installment a new category.

Players noticed that more games from the Resident Evil series was released on the mentioned platforms in 2022, and that no game includes information about PS5. At the moment, this doesn't mean that if Capcom announces these games for the new consoles, Sony will be left out. We have to wait for official information.

Resident Evil 6 is likely to hit the current generation of consoles soon - at least that's what the new rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), which is responsible for classifying video game content for different age groups, suggests. The mentioned survival horror version dedicated to Xbox Series received an "M" rating. The PS5 wasn't mentioned, but it's likely the game would be available on both platforms (and possibly on the Switch 2 as well). So far the title has been released on PS3, X360, PC, PS4, XOne, and Switch.
Of course, Capcom hasn't officially confirmed the new release of this title yet. However, it seems that we are only dealing with a slightly updated graphical and technical version of the game, not a remaster of the sixth installment, let alone a full-fledged remake like Resident Evil 4. It wouldn't be a bad move for the Japanese company, as RE 6 from 2012 didn't impress too many critics or players.
The game under discussion has an average score of 67/100 on Metacritic for the Xbox 360 version (it was also released on PS3) based on 71 reviews. The reception from the community was equally average. In this case, there were 1,860 ratings from the players, with an average score of 5.3 out of 10.
What caused such a weak reaction? Many fans of the series accused the developers of placing too much emphasis on action and marginalizing elements of horror. Some players have called this part a "regular shooter," and also directly referred to it as the worst installment of the series.
