It hasn't released any games yet, and it's already laying off. New studio of Just Cause series creator suffered „unfortunate failure”
There will be job cuts at the studio founded by the co-creator of the Just Cause series. We don't know how many people will say goodbye to their jobs.

Liquid Swords Studio was established in 2020 on the initiative of Christofer Sundberg, co-founder of Avalanche Studios and developer of the Just Cause series. We don't know much about his new project yet, and all we've received are scant information and a few screenshots developed on the Unreal Engine 5. Unfortunately, we have just learned that the situation in the studio itself isn't going very well.
On the official Liquid Swords website, a statement was published announcing a reduction in employment. It's worth noting that the company's staff includes former developers from several prestigious studios, including Rockstar Games, Square Enix, CD Projekt RED, and EA DICE. The stated reason was shifting market conditions, anticipated to prevent success within the intended timeframe.
I promised our employees and shareholders success and to build a studio redefining game development with a small, expert-driven team and a sustainable work model. While we achieved much of this, shifting market conditions prevented us from succeeding within our timeframe. As a result, we must part ways with talented individuals who have been instrumental in our journey. This is incredibly difficult, but we remain committed to our vision and will continue to work on our IP and first game with a dedicated team.
Unfortunately, we don't know how many people will be affected by the layoffs. As is standard for this type of announcement, it was conveyed that the departing studio employees will receive in their future professional careers and an appropriate severance package.
Meanwhile, the remaining developers at Liquid Swords intend to continue focusing on Sundberg's vision and believe that this "unfortunate failure" won't be an obstacle in its realization.
