Warfare in Victoria 3 will be heavily improved in patch 1.9
Paradox Studio wrote about improvements to the warfare aspects of Victoria 3, which will be introduced in patch 1.9.

Paradox Studio is currently working on a 1.9 update for Victoria 3 and a major revolution in the trading system. That's not the end of the story. The developers have just published a new article that describes the improvements to the warfare that this patch will introduce.
- The devs want to change the way war fronts are generated. The current system sometimes causes problems because the game focuses on where the two competing nations have overlapping territories. As a result, for instance, in India during one war, 10-15 fronts are generated. This will change. The game will be able to recognize when such created fronts are close to each other and will connect them.
- The movements of the army will also be fixed. They will no longer teleport, which currently happens when the troops have to move through territory inaccessible to them. In such situations, they will instead gain the status of expelled armies, which will allow them to march through enemy and neutral regions. Before ing the front, they will have to regroup in a friendly command center.
- There will also be an option to make pacts, where nations can give access to their territories to the armies of other countries.
- We can also expect improvements in elements such as military organization, supply, morale, or interface.
The release of the 1.9 update for Victoria 3 is scheduled for June 17th this year. The Charters of Commerce expansion will launch on the same day.
