Where is Civilization 7 Steam Workshop, and how long do players need to wait for it? Current mod status explained
What’s next for Civilization 7 after its rough start. With new content planned almost every month, what about mod ? Here’s everything we know.

Firaxis have promised updates based on player suggestions, but most fans are more eager to see when modding tools will be added.
When will Civ 7 modding tools arrive?
Mods can sometimes truly fix the game. From better map textures to UI improvements, they don’t just enhance the visuals – they also tweak AI behavior, rebalance mechanics, and address frustrations players have with the base game. The Civ series modding community has always worked wonders, keeping these games alive for years after release.
Modding tools can only be added to Civilization 7 after its full release. Even when that time is near, players might have to wait a bit longer. When Civilization 6 launched in October 2016, mod (including ModBuddy, WorldBuilder and Steam Workshop) arrived about four months later with the Australian Summer Update in February 2017.
Here’s what the most recent Dev Diary from late January says about the modding tools:
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention one of the most important ways our games improve after launch – through the tireless work of our community of modders. Civ VII is built on many of the same technologies we shared with modders to allow them to create their amazing content in the past. As 2025 unfolds, we'll be sharing modding tools and tips with these creators so they can get to work bringing their own ideas to life for you, our fans.
Based on the roap, March looks packed with two major updates bringing new leaders, civilizations, events, and Natural Wonders.
From April to September, even more content is expected, with a chance that official modding tools could arrive somewhere along the way. The big question is how long Firaxis will prioritize updates based on player . If the process drags on, everything could unfortunately end up getting delayed.
More mods should be popping up on Nexus soon, but for now, the only one available is a mod that grants all unique bonuses and leader abilities.
