Yakuza Sales on PC Positively Surprising
Sega has boasted impressive sales results for the PC versions of games in the Yakuza series. In a short time PC has become an important platform for this brand.

- Sales of the Yakuza series on PC have exceeded 2.8 million copies;
- The total sales of the series on all platforms amounted to 17 million copies;
- PC generated about 16% of the total result of the entire series, 16 years old at this point, in a little over two years.
Sega has boasted that it has already sold 2.8 million copies of the PC installments of the Yakuza series. This shows the strength of the PC as a platform for lovers of Japanese games, because this result was achieved in a little over two years. The series debuted on PC only on August 1, 2018 with the release of Yakuza 0.
Last November, the publisher reported that since the release of the first part, which took place in 2005, the entire series on all hardware platforms has sold 17 million copies. In just two years, PC has earned about 16% of the total result of the series.
The pace at which Sega ported the entire series to the PC suggested that the brand sells very well on this hardware platform. Now we finally have tanglible numbers to prove it.
The publisher initially ported the series to PC in chronological order in of story. After the port of Yakuza Kiwami 2.
After that, the chronology was disrupted, as the next installment to be ported to PC was Yakuza 5 Remastered.
The breakthrough moment for the PC branch of the series turned out to be the release of Yakuza : Like a Dragon in 2020. It was the first part of the series to be released on PC in the West at the same time as the console release, which showed how much the importance of the PC in the case of this brand has grown.
We hope that the growing popularity of the Yakuza series on PC will encourage Sega to port wants to port them to PC, but this is blocked by the acting agency representing Takuya Kimura, the lead actor. The conflict is reportedly so dire that the publisher is even considering ending this spin-off series. We hope, however, that the parties will eventually come to an agreement.
