The Aces of the Pacific offers the possibility of flying thirty-four planes, divided for each side according to the type of unit to which we will enlist for service (Navy, Air Force). Each of them has a separate dashboard, its advantages and disadvantages, and similar to real manoeuvres. Before starting the game, you can take a closer look at them and read short characteristics using the option of watching vehicles. There are many missions available in the game, both loose missions (e.g. historical scenarios, bomber escorts, attacks on enemy ships or aerial aces), as well as fully fledged campaigns (career mode), which offer completely different actions depending on the formation in which we choose to serve.
The program offers a realistic flight model, which, according to the player's preferences, can be modified by selecting one of the three difficulty levels. The same applies to combat as well. In addition, there are ten smaller functions that everyone can run according to his or her own vision. These include blinding by the sun, limited ammunition and fuel, or the jamming of machine guns. Thanks to this solution, Aces of the Pacific can be played by fans of fully-fledged simulators as well as those who just want to shoot themselves, pushing realism to the background.
The game offers a decent audiovisual setting, several views from which you can observe the action during the flight, the possibility of recording repetitions and watching them with different cameras and pleasant music. Without a doubt, Aces of the Pacific is an interesting product, extremely developed and, most importantly, well reflecting the climate of those times.
