Across the Grooves is a classic visual novel game. The title was developed by the independent studio Nova-box.

Plot

Across the Grooves takes us to an alternative reality, where time travel is possible. The main character of the game - Alice - leads a peaceful and settled life. Things take an unexpected turn when the protagonist receives a mysterious package from her ex-boyfriend Ulysse, and in it a mysterious vinyl record. After playing the record, our protégé is taken to the past, in order to relive some events. After returning to her present, the protagonist discovers, however, that the surrounding reality has changed drastically. In order to restore the old order, Alice has to travel across Europe and alternative timelines, following in the footsteps of the recording and her former lover. How her fate will turn out depends on the decisions we make.

Mechanics

In the course of the game, we follow the plot and discover its successive elements, as well as conduct conversations with NPCs. In addition, during the game we make choices that will affect the course of the story and the personality of the protagonist. As the plot is non-linear, the title is highly replayable.

Technical aspects

Across the Grooves features colorful, hand-drawn graphics. The situations, in which Alice and her interlocutors find themselves are presented in the form of half-static scenes. The game is accompanied by a soundtrack that adapts not only to current events, but also to Alice's personality.
