The game was developed by an Italian studio The Fox Software, which specializes in this genre - it is popular mainly for such games as Ico Soccer for Nintendo DS or Throw In for PCs; the latter being a remake of the classic title Kick Off 2. The game focuses on delivering an arcade experience and is played from a classic aerial view.
Active Soccer 2 for PC, AND and etc. is an arcade soccer game inspired by the Sensible Soccer series, which was establisihed in the 1990s. The game brings a continuation to Active Soccer (2012), which came out exclusively for mobile devices. Active Soccer 2 was developed by the creators of the original game from an Italian studio The Fox Interactive, which is popular for games offering a similar atmosphere, such as Ico Soccer for Nintendo DS or Throw In for PCs.
In similarity to the aforementioned Sensible Soccer, Active Soccer 2 focuses on delivering a solely arcade experience. The game is played from the classic aerial view, though the player can switch between the vertical, horizontal and isometric perspectives. The controls are equally old-school here, as this element of the game is reduced to only two buttons assigned to ing the ball and taking shots.
Active Soccer 2 for PC, AND and etc. offers about 800 national and club teams from all over the world; among the most important world leagues, the player will find both the highest-class ones and lower leagues. The game's ample database comprises 21 thousand footballers described here by a few attributes. Since the game does not use the required licenses, both club and footballer names were slightly altered; however, fans of football should be able to identify their favourites without experiencing trouble. Additionally, the player can use the in-game team editor.
Active Soccer 2 offers a wide set of game modes, such as friendly matches, league and cup games, or a career mode complemented by a simplistic managing module, which requires the player to go through matches, but also to develop adequate tactics, apart from taking care of transfers or the club's funding-related issues. The game also brings a mode for a cross-platform online competition.
Active Soccer 2 for PC, AND and etc. combines the old-school feeling and the unforgettable atmosphere of the Sensible Soccer series with slightly more present-day 3D visuals ing changing weather conditions for example. The soundtrack for this game was created by an acclaimed German composer, Chris Hülsbeck – he created soundtracks for over 70 other video games.
