Ad Infinitum is the debut game by the Berlin-based studio Hekate. It's a first-person psychological horror game, portraying World War I from the perspective of a traumatized German soldier. It was published by Nacon.
The game is set right after the end of World War I. The protagonist is a German conscript who has managed to survive the conflict. Trauma and violence brought him hallucinations, PTSD and nightmares. During each night, he must face his fears and memories of war, desperately trying to stay sane.
Ad Infinitum is a first-person psychological horror game focused on exploration, hiding from enemies and solving puzzles. We'll spend most of the game in trenches and on battlefields, warped by the protagonist's trauma. His fears are depicted as terrifying monsters he must hide from. There are also occasional puzzles fitting the game's time period. The world is dynamic and constantly changes due to our choices.
The game contains only the singleplayer campaign.
The visuals of Ad Infinitum are of very high quality. The surreal locations are strikingly reminiscent of actual trenches. The soundtrack emphasizes the game's dark, oppressive atmosphere.
