A bullet hell shooter with roguelike elements, starring bloodthristy axolotls. AK-xolotl has us traversing a procedurally generated land of animals, mowing down hordes of enemies, wielding a wide roster of diverse weaponry.
AK-xolotl is an indie bullet hell shooter with heavy roguelike elements. It was developed by 2Awesome Studio and published by Playstack.
AK-xolotl is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals. We play as the titular Axolotl, traversing the land, dispatching anyone in their path. On our way, we rescue little axolots we can play as once they grow up.
AK-xolotl makes use of the top-down perspective. The player must traverse procedurally generated locations, dispatching hordes of enemies. We'll spend most of our time mowing down cannon fodder by the hundreds, though there are also powerful bosses to face, such as giant knife-wielding crabs and sock-wearing snakes.
Our roster of weaponry includes melee weapons, like axes, and firearms, like the AK-47. As we progress through the game, we acquire useful power-ups that increase our combat capabilities. After death, we respawn and try yet again.
We'll also find eggs and small axolotls we can raise in our pond, turning them into killing machines once they grow up. By preparing meals, we can grant them permanent stat bonuses.
AK-xolotl features a colorful pixel art artstyle, fitting the game's humorous atmosphere.
