Akalabeth is the first game created by Richard Garriot, the precursor of the entire Ultima cRPG series, in which we enter the dark underworlds captured by hordes of monsters.
Akalabeth is the progenitor of the entire Ultima series, sometimes referred to as Ultima 0. It was created by Richard Garriot back in 1979. Akalabeth is a typical labyrinth game where we move mostly through the dark corridors of a monster-infested dungeons, although it is possible to come out to the surface to restock our supplies.
In Akalabeth, we face the evil warlock by the name of Mondaine who summons hordes of dangerous monsters by the means of black magic. We also become acquainted with a good ruler, Lord British, who appears in all installments of the extensive Ultima series.
Akalabeth was originally written for 8-bit computers. It was ported to PCs in 1997, when Ultima Collection was released by Electronic Arts.
