The game is the prequel to the Jake Hunter Detective series. The production offers 2D visuals developed in a rather typical manga style. Plot

Kyosuke Jinguji, a man from Japan living in New York, dies in unexplained circumstances. His grandson Saburo Jinguji (also known as Jake Hunter), who arrives in town to take care of relative's belongings, learns that before his death, Kyosuke tried to find out something about the word "Daedalus". Intrigued and worried, the young man decides to explain the mystery of his grandfather's death. The script was written by Hirotak Inaba.

Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz is a classic visual novel adventure game. The game requires players mainly to read the text displayed on the screen, watch illustrations and animated scenes, and discover the story prepared by the authors. From time to time, one also makes decisions that influence the course of history.

The game enriches the basic formula with several interesting solutions. The protagonist is a detective, so quite often players are forced to look for various types of circumstantial evidence. Interestingly, in these moments of the story players have the possibility to freely look around the locations and rotate the camera by 360 degrees. The protagonist can also strain his senses, making it easier for players to find important items.

The information one obtains is visualized on the Tree of Thought - it makes it easier to organize the data and draw conclusions.

In Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz one can only play alone. The basis of the game is a story campaign.

Technical aspects

Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz has an attractive design that combines 2D and 3D elements (most of the game was made in 2D, but in some places, players have the ability to turn the camera around, a bit like when viewing 3D photos). The manga artistic style of this production is quite subdued - one will not find here any twisted, caricatural figures and excessively intense colours. From time to time, the game also uses photos and video clips. The lighting effects fit well into a rather realistic, down-to-earth story. Both character designs and backgrounds are quite charmful and unique.
