The age is the third major expansion to the economic strategy game titled Anno 1800. The authors of the original and previous add-ons, Blue Byte, are behind the development of the DLC.
In Anno 1800: The age the players take command of an expedition, the aim of which is to establish an outpost behind the northern polar circle. Due to the difficult climatic conditions during the game they have to make use of new buildings and create production chains from previously unavailable links.
The age is not a stand-alone expansion, so it requires the basic version of the game to work.
