Anuchard is an old-school action adventure game with RPG elements. It was developed by an Indonesian indie studio stellarNull and was their biggest project at the time of its release.

Plot

Anuchard is set in a fantasy world. It was once a floating paradise watched over by five Guardians. ITs defenders turned against it however and it crumbled down, shattering into pieces. From those pieces, the Dungeon was born - winding corridors full of wild magic and deadly monsters. Only a small island survived, its people waiting for the chosen one to raise the Audros Bell, delve into the Dungeon, awaken the Guardians and restore Anuchard to glory.

Mechanics

Anuchard makes use of the top-down perspective. We'll spend most of the game delving into the Dungeon, solving puzzles and fighting enemy hordes. Aside from regular foes we'll also face powerful bosses, the most important are the Guardians, defeating which progresses the story.

The player's primary tool is the Audros Bell. It serves both as a weapon and a way to solve various puzzles and interact with objects. Within the Dungeon we'll also encounter lost souls of the villagers, who we can revive with a magic ritual.

The village itself serves as our base, where we stay between expeditions, preparing for our next quest. Reviving its inhabitants makes it livelier and unlocks various services from cooks, farmers, herbalists and more. Purchasing supplies from them lets us prepare for the next trip, which is how we'll delve deeper and face more powerful enemies.
