Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender is a shoot'em up created by two independent studios - Dugan (responsible for the artistic vision) and Gabor (authors of the game code). The production has been released on many platforms, and its versions differ mainly in the range of available gameplay variants and the weapons available to the player.

Plot

In Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender, players find themselves in an alternative world dominated by cats. When milk reserves get exhausted, four-legged creatures have no choice but to plunge into the underwater depths, where they manage to find milk deposits. Unfortunately, kittens are forced to defend their shafts from enemies from all over the world in order to keep the extraction at a satisfactory level.

Mechanics

The action in Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender is presented from a side perspective. The gameplay focuses on traversing underwater stages, fighting enemies and defending deposits. However, kittens controlled by the players are not defenseless - they explore the bottoms of the oceans inside well-armed submarines. There are two types of weapons - basic and special; the use of the latter requires prior recharging, so the key to success is the skillful management of its energy supply.

In the course of the game, you should not only make sure that the individual shafts are relatively safe but also to eliminate enemies as quickly as possible - by charging the combination multiplier you get more points in the summary for a specific mission. When can get temporary advantage on the battlefield with power-ups found along the way.

Game modes

In Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender there are three basic modes. The campaign can be played in standard Normal Mode as well as in a slightly easier Easy Mode (where enemies are weaker and the protagonist and his vehicle are more resistant to damage). There is also in Arcade Mode designed for hardcore players. In addition, you can play on your own or with a friend.

It is worth mentioning that the Xbox One version received a special mode called Dreadnought Mode, based on the assumptions of the metroidvania genre, in which our task is to destroy a powerful boat belonging to the enemy. The PC version has online rankings.

Technical aspects

Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender uses a characteristic pixel art style, reminiscent of the golden era of 8- and 16-bit production. The old-school graphics are complemented by a dynamic, chiptune soundtrack by Electric Cafe.
