Ascent of Ashes

Mechanics

The player commands a small group trying to settle down in a dangerous, alien place. One of our main challenges is to actually create the group. Each character in Ascent of Ashes has different abilities, ambitions and personality traits. We may find our best hunter in conflict against a bandit leader, or our best medician to be rather treacherous.

We must command our people to gather food, chop down trees, construct shelters and craft items. We'll handle their stress, hunger, take care of the injured and the sick. Any kind of damage can prove fatal in Ascent of Ashes - even a single gunshot can immobilize a character, making them defenseless.

There's lost of combat too, as we'll encounter many enemies of varying levels of intelligence. As we battle beasts, scavengers and ex-soldiers, we'll wield all sorts of weapons (such as submachine guns, shotguns and sniper rifles), implementing tactics (suppressive fire, taking cover). Active pause makes it easier to issue orders.

We can also gain an advantage by finding functioning vehicles, like cars and tanks, or scavenging ancient ruins, hiding secrets, artifacts and supplies.

Technical aspects

Due to the creators' experience in developing mods, their proprietary engine is very easy to develop. This means Ascent of Ashes can be easily modified.
