Release Date: July 8, 2002
Historically depicted one of the most important rivets of the Napoleonic campaign, near Austerlitz, where the Russian and Austrian armies faced the Napoleonic army.
After the success of Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle, the Breakaway Games team decided to use the same engine to create another strategy. This time, a bit back in time, imitating one of the most important battles of Napoleon's campaign - the Battle of Austerlitz. Allied troops, under the command of an experienced general Mikhail Kutuzov called the Fox of the North, faced the Napoleonic army.
In spite of the overwhelming forces, the associated troops were not commanded unanimously, which led to logistical errors and dispersion of troops. Tsar Alexander I arrived at the Russian front and de facto took command from Kutuzov, while Austrian troops were deprived of the presence of Emperor Franz II, who preferred to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict. In addition, Napoleon's genius allowed him to predict the tactics of the associated troops, so that under Austerlitz he was perfectly prepared for the offensive.
Three armies were introduced in the game: French, Russian and Austrian. We have more than 25 historical scenarios to play out (including several "probable" scenarios), based on in-depth research of this period by scientists. Thanks to the automatic map generator we can play unpredictable campaigns, which is useful mainly in multiplayer mode. Generated maps can be freely edited. Multiplayer mode enables gameplay for eight people on the local network or the Internet.
