A multiplayer-only strategy FPS game by EA, being mostly a free version of the popular Battlefield 2. Unlike the cartoonish and more arcade-like Battlefield Heroes (2009), Battlefield Play4Free strives to be more realistic, which makes it similar to the major installments of the franchise.

Battlefield Play4Free is the next installment of the famous series of first person perspective shooters. The product is intended for multiplayer only and is available to play for free. All kinds of payments are completely optional and are based on microtransactions system where the player decides what he wants to spend money on, if anything.

The game is a kind of combination of elements from Battlefield 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. From the former, it took the most popular maps, and from the latter, the familiar character classes and weapons. The game is characterized by large, open arenas, frequent use of various types of vehicles, and tactical approach to gameplay. Individual battles are played on a large scale – up to 32 players can play at the same time. As in most games in the cycle, the action is presented from a first person perspective and focuses on cooperation between the teammates.
