BattleTech Expansion Pack
Release Date: November 21, 2019
Third big expansion to the tactical turn-based strategy BattleTech. Add-on called Heavy Metal introduces a new minicampaign, as well as eight previously unavailable weapon systems and the same number of additional mechs. Among the latter there are seven machines known from the original.
Heavy Metal is the title of the third big expansion for BattleTech, a tactical turn-based strategy game from 2018. Like the base version of the game and previous add-ons, the expansion was developed by Harebrained Schemes and published by Paradox Interactive.
BattleTech: Heavy Metal introduces a new mini-campaign, in which the players face two famous characters from the universe: Wolf's Dragoons mercenaries, known as Bounty Hunter and Black Widow. In addition, the expansion enables us to investigate the secrets of a certain transporter wreck that reached the Periphery.
Except for the new missions, BattleTech: Heavy Metal brings eight previously unavailable mechs and weapon systems. The list of the former consists of seven machines known from the BattleTech board game, as well as a completely new construction, designed excelusively for the add-on. Among the latter we can find the first weapon dealing area damage, i.e. a mortar, as well as inferno missiles that increase target's internal heat, disabling them.
BattleTech: Heavy Metal can be played alone or in multiplayer mode over the Internet.
Heavy Metal does not bring any changes in the audiovisuals. As it is non-standlone expansion, it requires the base version of the game to work.
During the PDXCON 2019 event Paradox Interactive went all out. The publisher showed the first trailer of Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood, and announced a bunch of expansions, such as Hearts of Iron IV: La Resistance, Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Revelations, Stellaris: Federations, Prison Architect - Psych Ward: Warden's Edition and BattleTech: Heavy Metal.
