A detective adventure game set on board of a spaceship looking for a new home after Earth's destruction. Between Horizons has us play as Stella. The heroine must find and stop the conspirators who plan to sabotage the mission. The game features various cases, choices and endings.
Between Horizons is an independent sci-fi adventure game. This detective game is the work of the German studio DigiTales Interactive, the creators of the similarly toned Lacuna from 2021.
The action of the game takes place on board the Zephyr spaceship, which has left the destroyed Earth and is heading towards a place suitable for humanity. 33 years have ed since the beginning of the journey, but over a century remains until its end, which is why most of the inhabitants will never set foot in the new paradise.
One of such people is Stella - a young security chief forced to take over the position after her father. The heroine, born aboard the ship, will have to face a plot whose goal is to torpedo the Zephyr's mission. She will often face various moral dilemmas.
In Between Horizons we are dealing with an open world in which ten cases are waiting to be solved and may influence the fate of the entire expedition. Together with Stella, we will meet over forty NPCs - each of them may turn out to be an informer, a conspirator or a perpetrator of a crime. During the investigations, we talk to the residents of Zephyr, collect evidence, and in some cases we also rely on weapons.
Each item found on the ship can be a piece of the puzzle that we must match to the appropriate case. Next, we present the evidence to specific engers to confirm our theories, which is similar to the legal themed Ace Attorney series. The decisions we make may affect the plot - they lead to numerous consequences and different endings.
Between Horizons is characterized by a pixel art style combined with a three-dimensional environment. An autosave system has been implemented in the game, which forces us to accept the consequences of the decisions made.
